The guest lecture delves into the intersection of communication and artificial intelligence within data-driven societies. Drawing on communication and critical social theory, the lecture will shed light on how AI influences communication dynamics and thus shapes modern societies. Drawing on empirical material from a recent case study, the lecture will elaborate on GenAI ‘taming’ processes from a user’s perspective. The lectures aims to offer a nuanced understanding of the implications of AI on communication practices and societal structures. Additionally, the lecture will discuss community-driven guidelines and implications for policy-making.
