Call for Applications – Faculty Position
Chiang Mai University School of Public Policy, Thailand, invites applications for a full-time faculty position. Applicants must have a PhD degree in public policy or related fields, a strong research record, and dedication to excellence in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level. This position is a special strategic position for Chiang Mai University thus an excellent publication track record is a must (at least 3 publications in ISI or Scopus index in the last 3 years). We are particularly looking for early to mid-career academics. Female, ethnic minorities, disadvantaged individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Chiang Mai University School of Public Policy is the first public policy school established in Thailand. With our DNA – inclusive, innovation, progressive – the School offers both MA and PhD in Public Policy. Our focus areas include governance, urban policy, climate change and environmental policy. We pay particular attention to the contemporary approaches to public policy, policy options analysis, policy interventions and policy learning. In this vein, we offer the new insight into the understanding of public policy beyond the traditional policy perspective. Also, we provide multiple lens including technical, critical, interpretive and deliberative oriented that pave the way towards sound policies and support inclusive, innovative and progressive policy design in an environment of complexity. Aside from providing international graduate programs and training course, the school also conducts high quality research and providing consultations to governments.

Chiang Mai University School of Public Policy offers a short-term unpaid internship program ranging from 12 weeks to 6 months to undergraduate student and graduate students. The experience gained through internship shall contribute to students’ self-development in terms of systematic thinking, observation, decision-making, analytical & academic evaluation skills.
Such experience shall equip students with both theoretical and practical skills required to meet the demands of the industry and to pursue their individual careers. The program aims for the following;
• To provide an opportunity for students so that students can apply academic knowledge to real practice at a particular enterprise.
• To enhance student’s knowledge and work experience.
• To provide an opportunity for students so that students can develop themselves and are well prepared prior to becoming a qualified and capable graduate.
• To create close and efficient cooperation between the University and partners.
Participants in the CMU-SPP Internship Program are required to fulfill the following requirements:
a) Undergoing full-time studies at a local or overseas tertiary institution in the current academic years, who is in possession of or with a view to obtaining a bachelor’s degree or higher qualifications;
b) Being committed to serve the community/organization and with an interest in pursuing a career in the Administrative Service, Public policy-related career after graduation;
c) Possessing leadership qualities and being able to work in a team;
d) Being active in community/school activities;
e) Having good academic achievements; and
f) Having a good command of English.
